Alejandro Rosales Castillo, a fugitive on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list since 2017, was arrested in Pachuca, Mexico, on January 16, 2026, after nearly a decade on the run.
He was transferred to Charlotte, North Carolina, to face charges related to the 2016 first-degree murder, kidnapping, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and larceny of a motor vehicle in connection with the death of 23-year-old Sandy Ly Le.
The arrest followed coordinated efforts with Mexican authorities and was hailed by FBI Director Kash Patel as a historic achievement, highlighting international cooperation and intelligence sharing.
Castillo’s capture marks the sixth fugitive taken from the list in under a year.
