Marcos Thomas Perez, a 62-year-old former Miami Heat security officer and retired Miami Police officer, was sentenced to three years in federal prison and ordered to pay $1.9 million in restitution for stealing over 400 game-worn jerseys and memorabilia from the team’s secured equipment room between 2016 and 2025.
Federal authorities allege he sold more than 100 items online, including a LeBron James NBA Finals jersey he sold for $100,000, which later fetched $3.7 million at auction.
Nearly 300 stolen items were recovered from his home in April 2025.
Perez pleaded guilty in August 2025 to transporting stolen goods across state lines.
