Five Muslim teens face charges under Uttar Pradesh’s anti-conversion law for allegedly pressuring a Hindu girl to convert.
A case has been filed in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, against five Muslim girls, aged 15 to 17, under the state’s 2021 Anti-Conversion Act, alleging they pressured a 16-year-old Hindu girl to wear a burqa and convert to Islam.
The incident occurred on December 12, 2025, and was reported by the victim’s brother, who claimed coercion during tuition.
Police registered an FIR under Sections 3 and 5(1) of the law, which criminalizes forced conversions through fraud, force, or deceit, with penalties of 5 to 14 years in prison.
The minors cannot be arrested, but the investigation continues.
Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party leader ST Hasan criticized a Delhi High Court-directed demolition near Faiz-e-Elahi Masjid, warning it could incite unrest and questioning the legal basis for demolishing historic religious sites.
