A fake pipe bomb labeled "C4" was the top unusual item found at U.S. airport security in 2025, per TSA.
The TSA released its 2025 list of the 10 most unusual items found at airport checkpoints, led by a non-functional replica pipe bomb made of PVC pipes and labeled “C4” discovered in a checked bag at Boise Airport.
Other finds included stuffed turtles in clothing, razor blades in garments, drugs in shoes, knives in knee braces and car seats, pills in shampoo bottles, bullets in Nesquik containers, a firearm in a golf bag, and weapons wrapped in tinfoil at multiple airports.
The TSA reiterated that realistic explosive replicas are banned in both carry-on and checked luggage and urged travelers to consult official guidelines before flying.
