Apple explores Intel for A21/A22 chip production by 2028, diversifying away from TSMC.
Apple is exploring a partnership with Intel to manufacture some of its future A21 and A22 chips using Intel’s 14A process, with mass production expected by 2028, according to analyst Jeff Pu. Intel would handle fabrication only, not design, marking a shift to diversify supply chain reliance on TSMC. Lower-end M-series chips for Macs and iPads could also be produced by Intel as early as mid-2027. While TSMC remains Apple’s primary supplier, the move aims to reduce supply chain risks and boost flexibility. No official confirmation has been provided by either company.
