A 22-year-old private university student, M Kajen, pleaded not guilty in Kuala Lumpur Magistrate’s Court on January 23, 2026, to driving under the influence of alcohol and crashing into a security barrier at Gate 2 of Istana Negara.
Prosecutors allege he had a blood alcohol level of 166mg per 100ml, exceeding Malaysia’s legal limit.
Charged under Section 45A(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, he faces up to RM10,000 in fines, five years in prison, and a five-year driving ban if convicted.
The court granted him RM4,000 bail with one surety, and the next hearing is set for February 26.
