An 18-year-old Houston man faces federal charges for allegedly using a modified gun in a METRO bus shooting that killed Caitlin Stup and wounded a teen.
An 18-year-old Houston man, Patrick Scott, faces federal weapons charges for allegedly possessing a machine gun and receiving a firearm while on bond for aggravated robbery, in connection with a Jan. 7 METRO bus shooting that killed 25-year-old Caitlin Stup and wounded a 16-year-old.
Authorities say a 9mm Glock with a machine gun conversion device was linked to Scott, who was involved in a gunfire exchange with 17-year-old Brayden Smith, the other suspect.
Both are in custody, with Scott facing up to 15 years in prison and fines of $250,000 per charge.
The FBI and Houston Police are investigating, and METRO has increased officer presence on buses.
