Veteran Democratic State Senator Steve Conway, 81, announced he will not seek re-election in 2024 after 34 years in the Washington Legislature, citing age and family needs.

Conway, who represented Tacoma’s 29th District since 1993 and held leadership roles including Senate president pro tem, plans to retire before turning 86.
