Three Glasgow men stole nearly £2,000 in items from Sainsbury’s stores in Cumbria, were caught on the M6, and one admitted theft.
A Glasgow-based trio stole nearly £2,000 in high-value items like razors and shavers from Sainsbury’s stores in Carlisle, Penrith, and Kendal over two days in September, police say.
CCTV confirmed all three were involved in the thefts, which occurred without payment.
Officers stopped their vehicle on the M6, found stolen goods, and arrested them after inconsistent explanations.
One defendant, 38-year-old Guram Niparishvili, admitted three theft counts, claiming he only knew the others casually.
The case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report, with Niparishvili granted bail to stay in Glasgow ahead of sentencing on February 23.
