Sovereignty named Horse of the Year after winning three major races in 2025.

Sovereignty, a homebred son of Into Mischief trained by Bill Mott, was named Horse of the Year and champion 3-year-old male at the 2026 Eclipse Awards, winning 201 of 220 first-place votes. The horse captured the Kentucky Derby, Belmont Stakes, and Travers Stakes in 2025, missing the Breeders’ Cup Classic due to illness. Mott earned his fifth Eclipse Award as outstanding trainer, and Godolphin was honored as top owner and breeder for the sixth consecutive year. Japan’s Forever Young was named top older dirt male after winning the Breeders’ Cup Classic, while Ted Noffey won champion 2-year-old male. Thorpedo Anna was recognized as champion older dirt female.
