The principal of New Madinah College in Young, NSW, Sheikh Abdulghani Albaf, has been stood down as the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) investigates his suitability amid concerns over past social media posts expressing extreme views against Zionists. NESA found the school’s evidence submitted by January 19 did not satisfactorily address concerns about Albaf meeting "fit and proper" person requirements. The independent registration committee will review the school’s policies, conduct records, and submissions, with a decision expected by mid-February. While the school’s leadership maintains Albaf has a clean record and no history of hate, NESA emphasized student safety and strict standards for school leaders. The school has previously faced compliance issues.
