Missouri Rep. Jeremy Dean reprimanded for vulgar text about Trump, facing penalties including training and distancing from colleague.
Missouri state Representative Jeremy Dean was formally reprimanded by the House on January 22, 2026, for sending a sexually vulgar text message referencing President Donald Trump to Republican colleague Cecelie Williams during a September 2025 protest over a congressional redistricting plan.
The House voted 138-10 to impose penalties including removal from committee service, a 50-foot distance requirement, mandatory sexual harassment training, and potential changes to seating and parking.
Williams, a domestic abuse survivor, called the apology insincere and demanded expulsion.
The House Ethics Committee had unanimously recommended the sanctions, which Speaker Jon Patterson said affirm the chamber’s commitment to a safe workplace, with all members to undergo mandatory annual training.
Dean is one of at least 157 state lawmakers accused of misconduct since 2017.
