India approves 10,000 km of roads in remote regions under PMGSY-IV to connect 3,270 isolated villages by 2028–29.
The Indian government has sanctioned over 10,000 km of road projects in Jammu & Kashmir, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, and Sikkim under PMGSY-IV, aiming to connect 3,270 isolated habitations.
The scheme, approved in September 2024, has a total outlay of Rs 70,125 crore, with central and state contributions of Rs 49,087.50 crore and Rs 21,037.50 crore respectively.
It targets 25,000 unconnected rural habitations across difficult terrains, including tribal, desert, and Left Wing Extremism-affected areas, with a goal of building 62,500 km of all-weather roads by 2028–29.
