flag Former coach Jayden Brian, accused of grooming and assaulting a 13-year-old, granted bail with strict conditions.

Jayden Brian, 31, a former high school swimming coach, has been granted bail after being held since October 2025 on charges related to grooming and sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl. Allegations include Brian using a fake Snapchat identity to send explicit messages and videos, arranging a meeting for sex in exchange for cigarettes, alcohol, and a $50 gift card, and sexually touching the girl in his car. Police found child abuse material on his personal and school-issued devices. Despite the seriousness of the charges and the victim’s vulnerability, Magistrate Michelle Mykytowycz granted bail with strict conditions: a 10pm to 6am curfew, a ban on smartphones and social media, no contact with the victim or students, and restrictions near the victim’s home and school. Brian, no longer employed by Methodist Ladies’ College, confirmed he understands the conditions and is due back in court in February.
