Amazon plans massive layoffs, cutting 30,000 corporate jobs—up to 10% of workforce—across AWS, retail, Prime Video, and HR, citing bureaucracy reduction, not AI.
As part of a larger initiative to eliminate roughly 30,000 white-collar jobs, Amazon is getting ready to lay off thousands of corporate workers in a second significant wave of job cuts, targeting positions across Amazon Web Services, retail, Prime Video, and human resources.
The action, which is anticipated to start early next week, comes after a comparable round that eliminated about 14,000 jobs in October 2025.
CEO Andy Jassy stressed that cutting bureaucracy and simplifying operations is the main objective, despite early reports mentioning AI-driven efficiency.
If the cuts are finalized, they would be the biggest in Amazon's history, accounting for almost 10% of its corporate workforce.
A ninety-day transition period for internal opportunities or job searching will be granted to affected employees.
The reports have not been verified by the company.
