Yadier Molina has returned to the St. Louis Cardinals as a special assistant to president of baseball operations Chaim Bloom, the team announced on January 22, 2026.
The 43-year-old, who played 19 seasons with the Cardinals from 2004 to 2022, will advise on catching development, game strategy, and player culture.
A two-time World Series champion and 10-time All-Star, Molina is the only player in MLB history to catch 2,000 or more games for one team and ranks among the franchise’s elite with 2,168 hits and 1,022 RBIs.
Since retiring, he has managed teams in Venezuela and Puerto Rico.
His new role marks a continuation of his deep involvement with the organization.
