A woman jailed for holding another captive for 25 years in a filthy room, enduring abuse and isolation.
A 56-year-old woman from Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, was found guilty of multiple counts, including forced labor and false imprisonment, after holding a woman captive in her home for over 25 years. The victim, who entered the household at the age of 16 in 1995, suffered severe physical abuse, starvation, and isolation in a filthy, damp room known as a "prison cell." Police discovered her in 2021 after receiving a tip from the defendant's son. She received no medical or dental care for two decades, sustained serious injuries such as missing teeth and scarring, and was subjected to repeated assaults and psychological torment. Despite being acquitted of one assault charge, the defendant was convicted on the remaining counts and released on conditional bail before being sentenced in March. The victim is now living with a foster family and attending college, but she is still dealing with trauma.
