Starting early February, the 30-meter Throsby Navigation Tower in Newcastle’s Honeysuckle car park will be demolished over three weeks, temporarily closing at least 60 parking spaces.
The Port of Newcastle-owned structure is being removed to make way for the Honeysuckle HQ redevelopment, with a new seven-meter tower already operational nearby.
The project, funded by a $400,000 HCCDC application, includes 70 temporary parking spots and maintains overall parking supply, with two additional spaces after reinstatement.
Work will occur weekdays and Saturdays, with no activity on Sundays or public holidays.
The redevelopment spans three hectares from Cottage Creek to Wickham Marina, with a final development partner expected to be announced in 2026.
