St. Joseph County Prosecutor Kenneth Cotter is retiring and backing Chief Deputy Amy Cressy, a Democrat, to succeed him in the 2026 election.
St. Joseph County Prosecutor Kenneth Cotter announced his retirement after 11 years in office, endorsing Chief Deputy Amy Cressy as his successor.
Cressy, who has served as chief deputy since 2022 and began her career with the office as an intern in 2003, has filed as a Democrat for the May 2026 primary.
The filing period for Indiana’s 2026 elections opened January 7 and closes February 6.
Cotter, a longtime prosecutor, praised Cressy’s experience and qualifications.
She will seek to lead the county’s prosecution office starting in 2027.
