Six individuals, including four Ecuadorian nationals and two Fijian men, were remanded in custody after a major drug seizure at Vatia Wharf, Fiji, with 2.64 tonnes of cocaine—valued at around $3 billion—intercepted in December 2025.
The drugs, allegedly transported via a narco submarine from South America, were discovered in 2,630 parcels during a coordinated raid.
The suspects face charges including unlawful importation, possession, and, in some cases, serious assault and unlawful entry.
The investigation, initiated in July 2025 with U.S. DEA intelligence, involved Fiji’s Serious Organised Crime and Intelligence Department, CID, and Western Division Taskforce.
A medical evaluation was ordered for two suspects after claims of assault during arrest.
The case is set for a hearing on February 5 at the Lautoka High Court.
