Scotland allocates £113,000 to assess the collapsed Spey Viaduct and plan alternative paths.
The Scottish Government has allocated £113,000 to assess the collapsed 19th-century Spey Viaduct in Moray, which fell into the River Spey due to soil erosion.
Funds will support engineering evaluations, planning, and the development of an alternative route for the National Cycle Network and Moray Coastal Path, with new signage and safe paths through Gordon Castle.
Officials, including Transport Secretary Fiona Hyslop, highlighted the bridge’s historical significance and ongoing collaboration with local agencies.
A four-step assessment will evaluate site conditions, but long-term repair or replacement will require additional funding.
The announcement followed a Holyrood debate initiated by MSP Tim Eagle.
