A San Jose police sergeant was shot during a multi-agency chase after an armed carjacking of a Corvette at a dealership. The suspect, an adult male, fled south to Hollister, resulting in two shootouts and no officer injuries. After stealing another car, he returned to San Jose and was stopped near Highway 87 and Notre Dame Avenue, where he allegedly attempted to steal a police car before fleeing on foot. Officers opened fire, killing the suspect, who was reportedly run over by a patrol vehicle. The sergeant suffered non-life-threatening injuries and is currently in stable condition.
