Parents of 19-year-old Matthew Lock urge schools and GPs to improve ADHD screening after his 2023 suicide linked to untreated ADHD and substance use.
The parents of Matthew Lock, a 19-year-old former This Morning guest and Labour councillor from Sefton, are urging schools and GPs to improve ADHD screening after their son died by suicide in 2023 while under the influence of ketamine and alcohol.
Matthew, diagnosed with autism at 14 but undiagnosed with ADHD for years, struggled with substance use, which his parents believe was linked to untreated ADHD.
They say delayed diagnosis and limited access to support contributed to his struggles and are now advocating for earlier detection and better mental health resources to prevent similar tragedies, noting that ADHD affects about one in 20 children.
Los padres de Matthew Lock, de 19 años, instan a las escuelas y a los médicos generales a mejorar la detección del TDAH después de que su suicidio de 2023 se relacionara con el TDAH no tratado y el uso de sustancias.
