The IITA and Mastercard Foundation’s I-Youth project, launched in 2020, created over 90,000 jobs and entrepreneurship opportunities for Nigerian youth, women, and persons with disabilities in six states.
The program provided training in technical, entrepreneurial, and business skills to individuals aged 15 to 35, focusing on inclusion and empowering participants to launch agribusinesses or secure meaningful work in the agrifood system.
At the Phase I closeout, IITA’s Dr. Simeon Ehui emphasized that equipping youth with skills, mentorship, and market access enables them to become job creators, highlighting the long-term benefits of investing in youth for Africa’s development.
