Vancouver-based Hootsuite has won U.S. government contracts worth up to $2.8 million to provide social media management services to the Department of Homeland Security, starting in August 2024 with a potential extension to 2029.
The deals, awarded through Seneca Strategic Partners—a firm owned by the Seneca Nation of Indians—focus on public communication, transparency, and information delivery via Hootsuite’s platform.
This marks a reversal from 2020, when the company ended a prior contract with ICE amid employee opposition.
The renewed involvement comes amid ongoing scrutiny of U.S. immigration enforcement and increased collaboration between Canadian firms and U.S. federal agencies, including ICE’s planned purchase of 20 armored vehicles from a Canadian defense manufacturer.
