Atmos Energy warns Tennessee residents to prepare for winter storms by preventing frozen pipes and carbon monoxide risks.
As winter storms approach, Atmos Energy is urging customers in Tennessee and surrounding areas to prepare for cold temperatures by preventing frozen pipes, maintaining gas appliances, and avoiding unsafe heating methods like ovens.
The company recommends setting thermostats to 68°F during the day and 58°F when away, clearing snow from gas meters with a broom, and keeping vents unblocked to prevent carbon monoxide buildup.
Residents should also check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, reduce water heater temperature to 120°F, and use emergency line 866-322-8667 for service issues.
