Algeria players suspended and fined after brawl post-loss to Nigeria in 2025 AFCON quarter-final.
Algerian players Luca Zidane and Rafik Belghali received two- and four-match suspensions, respectively, and the Algerian Football Federation was fined $100,000 by CAF following a post-match brawl and fan disturbances after Algeria’s 2-0 quarter-final loss to Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The incidents included player altercations, pursuit of officials, flares, thrown objects, and offensive gestures.
The federation plans to appeal the sanctions.
Nigeria advanced to the semi-finals and finished third, their ninth such result in AFCON history.
