MHI-TC delivered the Mitsubishi Marine Bridge, a self-propelled mobile boarding bridge, to Yokohama City, which began operations on January 13, 2026, at the Osanbashi Terminal.
The bridge, built at MHI’s Mihara Machinery Works, uses 16 independently steered wheels and GNSS-based automated driving to connect safely with cruise ships regardless of door positions.
It operates on onboard generators while moving and switches to land power when in use, reducing emissions.
The gently sloped ramp offers weather-protected, secure access, and the bridge can be moved out of the way when not in use, improving wharf efficiency.
The terminal handles over three million visitors annually.
