Supreme Court orders urgent trial of builder-bank fraud affecting 1,200 homebuyers, mandates bank payments and broader investigation.
The Supreme Court has ordered a special CBI court in Delhi to take up three chargesheets within two weeks related to a builder-bank fraud network that allegedly defrauded over 1,200 homebuyers in the NCR through subvention schemes.
The court emphasized urgent trials, directed 23 banks to deposit ₹10 lakh each for legal expenses, and instructed the CBI to investigate new complaints from across India, including projects in Chennai and Bengaluru.
It rejected builder pleas for exemption, citing prima facie evidence of collusion, and stressed accountability, transparency, and protection of homebuyers’ rights.
