South Huron's 2026 budget, adopting a $12.28M tax levy with ward-specific increases, funds key projects and marks the first under expanded mayoral powers.
The South Huron municipal budget for 2026 was adopted on January 14, 2026, with a $12.28 million tax levy, a 1.4% increase for Stephen and Usborne wards and 2.48% for Exeter, raising average residential taxes by $26.12 and $52.57 respectively.
Key projects include replacing the Dashwood fire station, upgrading infrastructure, and funding major provincial grants for Exeter’s Main Street South and London Road South sewer projects.
The budget was the first under expanded “strong mayor” powers, with a dog park proposal removed after a council override of a mayoral veto.
