The Penguins traded Valtteri Puustinen and a 2026 seventh-rounder to Colorado for defenseman Ilya Solovyov.
The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired defenseman Ilya Solovyov from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for forward Valtteri Puustinen and a 2026 seventh-round draft pick.
Solovyov, 25, played 16 games for Colorado this season, recording three points and a minus-1 rating, while averaging 11:34 of ice time.
He was claimed off waivers from Calgary in October and has 31 career NHL games with seven points.
Puustinen, 26, a Finnish forward drafted by Pittsburgh in 2019, played 35 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in 2025-26, scoring 26 points, and previously played 66 NHL games for Pittsburgh with 24 points.
He will join Colorado’s AHL affiliate, the Colorado Eagles.
The trade reflects Pittsburgh’s move to strengthen its defense and Colorado’s focus on depth and roster flexibility.
