The Music Venue Trust warns that without action by June 2026, the sector’s foundation is at risk, urging implementation of a voluntary grassroots levy to reinvest revenue from large concerts into local venues.
If the levy fails, the trust says government legislation may be needed.
In response, it will expand emergency aid, advisory services, and invest £2 million in cost-reduction programs, stressing that grassroots venues are essential national infrastructure requiring long-term protection and structural reform.
