Ottawa Senators goalie Linus Ullmark took a leave due to anxiety, returned to practice, and is recovering.
Ottawa Senators goaltender Linus Ullmark took an indefinite personal leave after experiencing anxiety and panic during a Dec. 27 game, which he said triggered a distressing episode unlike any he'd faced before.
He spoke out against baseless social media rumors, including false claims of infidelity and team conflict, that spread after his absence.
Ullmark, who has been working with the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program, returned to practice on Jan. 16 and is improving but not yet ready to play.
The Senators signed veteran James Reimer and recalled Hunter Shepard while Ullmark remains on leave.
