In an effort to safeguard children, OpenAI has implemented a new age-verification system in ChatGPT that employs AI to determine a user's age based on their input. The feature, which will launch in early 2026, determines whether a user is probably under the age of 18 by analyzing their writing style and content. Although safety regulations are meant to be enforced, some users claim to have been mistakenly flagged as teenagers, which raises privacy and accuracy concerns. According to OpenAI, the system is still being improved to lower false positives.
