New Zealand approved a $3.1M loan for a 43-hectare industrial site near Gore, creating jobs and supporting Ngāi Tahu.
The New Zealand government has approved a $3.1 million loan to develop a 43-hectare industrial hub near Gore, Southland, on land along State Highway 1.
Led by Ngāi Tahu iwi authority Hokonui Rūnanga and Robertson Transport Limited, the project aims to address a shortage of large industrial sites, create up to 50 construction jobs, and attract industries like fertiliser distribution and farm equipment services.
Part of a larger 90-hectare plan, it will provide Hokonui Rūnanga with long-term lease income to support community services.
Construction is set to begin mid-2026.
