Former Uvalde officer Adrian Gonzales faces 29 counts of child endangerment for not entering shooter’s classroom during 2022 Robb Elementary attack.
The trial of former Uvalde school officer Adrian Gonzales, who was charged with 29 counts of child endangerment for his inaction during the 2022 Robb Elementary School shooting, concluded with testimony. 36 witnesses, including teachers and first responders, testified for nine days on behalf of the prosecution, detailing the chaos and violence that claimed the lives of two teachers and 19 children. Despite being in position, they contended that Gonzales, one of the first officers on the scene, did not go into the active shooter's classroom. Gonzales did not testify and entered a not guilty plea. In order to show that Gonzales was unable to find the gunman, his defense called two witnesses: a police tactics expert and a woman who claimed to have seen the gunman close to cars. On Wednesday, the jury will deliberate after closing arguments. The Corpus Christi trial has garnered national attention as law enforcement's response has come under scrutiny.
