The European T20 Premier League (ETPL), sanctioned by the ICC, has unveiled its first three franchises in Amsterdam, Edinburgh, and Belfast, with the inaugural season launching in late August 2026.
Led by cricket legends Steve Waugh, Glenn Maxwell, Nathan McCullum, and Kyle Mills, the league is a joint venture between Rules Global and Cricket Ireland, co-founded by Abhishek Bachchan and others.
Backed by national boards including Cricket Scotland and the Royal Dutch Cricket Association, ETPL aims to grow professional cricket across Europe’s 34 ICC member nations by combining international stars with emerging local talent under strong governance.
The launch follows rising momentum in European cricket, including Italy’s qualification for the 2026 T20 World Cup and the continent hosting the tournament.
