West Wits has secured $27.5 million in funding to advance the Qala Shallows gold project in South Africa’s historic West Wits Basin, which has produced over 22% of all gold ever mined.
The project holds a 1-million-ounce gold resource, including 383,000 ounces in bankable reserves, and leverages existing infrastructure to accelerate development.
Production is set to ramp from 15,000 to 65,000 tonnes per month within three years, supporting an annual output of about 70,000 ounces for 12 years.
A July feasibility study projected a $500 million net present value, 81% internal rate of return, and $983 million in post-tax free cash flow based on a conservative $2,850 per ounce gold price.
All-in sustaining costs are expected at $1,289 per ounce, positioning the mine as a low-cost producer.
