Matthew Mudford, a Ngāpuhi and Ngāti Whararā descendant, has been appointed CEO of the Ngāpuhi Asset Holding Company effective February 2026.
He joins from New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, where he supported Māori businesses, and previously co-founded Kiwa at KPMG.
His appointment marks a key step in NAHC’s 2035 strategy to grow assets while balancing cultural values and whānau wellbeing.
Outgoing CEO Stewart Otene will assist with the transition.
The iwi continues addressing social challenges, including high numbers of Ngāpuhi children in state care, while advancing education, arts, and community development.
