Indian court orders removal of unauthorized lawyer's image from social media to prevent fraud.
The Delhi High Court has ordered the removal of unauthorized images of senior advocate Vikas Pahwa from social media platforms after allegations that his likeness was being used in fraudulent schemes.
Justice Jyoti Singh issued an interim order banning unnamed individuals and platforms from using Pahwa’s image, name, or identity without consent, citing damage to his reputation and risks of financial fraud.
The court recognized the misuse on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, marking the first time a lawyer in India has secured such protection for personality rights.
The case, which seeks takedown of infringing content, is set for further hearing on March 12.
