India secures a $2.5B LNG deal with UAE, starting 2028, to boost energy security and trade.
India has signed a 10-year, $2.5 billion to $3 billion liquefied natural gas (LNG) deal with the UAE’s ADNOC Gas, securing 500,000 tonnes annually starting in 2028 or 2029, making India the UAE’s largest LNG customer.
The agreement, finalized during a visit by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to New Delhi, strengthens energy ties and supports India’s goal to expand natural gas use.
The two nations also agreed to boost bilateral trade to $200 billion by 2032, explore defense and civil nuclear cooperation, and collaborate on infrastructure in Gujarat’s Dholera region.
Separately, India signed a one-year, 2.2 million-tonne LPG import deal with the U.S., beginning in 2026, to diversify energy sources and enhance energy security.
