Dozens of jobs are at risk on the Far South Coast after Jennings Civil Group, a Bombala-based earthworks and landscape company, was liquidated in January 2026 with Michael Slaven appointed as liquidator.
The collapse ended operations of Merimbula Soil and Gravel, a Bega Valley business with four decades of service, acquired by Nathaniel Jennings in 2024.
Despite initial assurances, the company slowed after the acquisition, and its wholesale stock was transferred in May 2025.
In response, Jarrod Smith of Girri Birrang Infrastructure has offered temporary work to several former employees, aiming to preserve skilled labor and team cohesion amid growing regional concern over the financial fallout.
