CISF launches 25-day, 6,553-km coastal cycle trek to honor 150 years of Vande Mataram and boost maritime security.
The Central Industrial Security Force will launch the second Vande Mataram Coastal Cyclothon on January 28, 2026, a 25-day, 6,553-kilometer cycling event across India’s coastline, involving 130 CISF personnel including 65 women.
The expedition, marking 150 years of the national song, aims to boost maritime security awareness, national unity, and community engagement, with teams starting from Gujarat and West Bengal and converging in Kochi.
It highlights India’s 250+ ports, 95% of trade by volume, and the strategic role of coastal regions, while promoting the Blue Economy and empowering fishermen as vigilance partners.
The initiative supports a new "coastal vibrant villages" program, with CISF adopting 52 villages, expanding port security through a new vertical, and establishing a Bureau of Port Security.
