Balochistan’s chief minister claims progress on missing persons, but women’s groups report rising enforced disappearances of women since late 2025.
On January 20, 2026, Balochistan’s Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti declared the province’s missing persons issue “resolved permanently,” citing new legal frameworks that establish supervised interrogation centers, allow family visits, and strengthen legal processes.
The cabinet also approved administrative reforms, including new divisions, digitized hiring, and a ban on child labor.
However, the Baloch Women Forum reported a surge in enforced disappearances of women since December 2025, documenting 12 cases with six still missing, three released, and one executed, citing torture, fake encounters, and lack of accountability.
