A Whangārei man charged with pushing store owner Dallas Gurney, causing a broken shoulder, appears in court and is released on bail.
A 36-year-old Whangārei man has been charged with assaulting Dallas Gurney, owner of the Whananaki General Store and a former media executive, after CCTV footage showed Gurney being pushed off a deck on January 11, resulting in a fractured shoulder.
The man appeared in Whangārei District Court, did not enter a plea, was granted interim name suppression, and released on bail.
His next court date is set for February, when he will seek further name suppression and formally plead.
Gurney, who left corporate life two years ago to live in Whananāki, runs the store and a community radio station.
The incident is under investigation.
