A new twice-weekly direct flight from Christchurch to Port Vila, Vanuatu, will launch on 1 July 2026, operated by Solomon Airlines using an Airbus A320-200.
The service, the first scheduled commercial flight between the two locations, will offer morning departures from Christchurch on Thursdays and Sundays, with return flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays, providing a four-hour journey.
The route aims to boost tourism and regional connectivity, offering South Island travelers access to Vanuatu’s tropical climate, natural attractions, and cultural experiences.
The expansion follows recent increases in flights from Auckland and Honiara, and comes after Air Vanuatu exited international service in 2024.
