A new 500kV power line in Jiangsu, China, opened Jan. 13, 2026, boosting grid capacity and renewable energy transmission.
A new 500kV power transmission project in Jiangsu Province, China, became operational on January 13, 2026, supporting a major power plant expansion and boosting the region’s ability to meet winter electricity demand.
The project, spanning 89.045 kilometers, is expected to deliver about 10 billion kilowatt-hours annually—enough to power roughly four million households—and enhances the grid’s capacity to transmit wind power from Yancheng’s coastal area, which exceeded 20GW of renewable capacity by September 2025.
It is part of broader grid modernization efforts by State Grid Jiangsu to improve stability, integrate renewables, and replace aging coal plants.
