Khyber Pakhtunkhwa tripled home compensation to Rs500,000 amid funding shortfalls and rising terrorism in 2025.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi announced a tripling of compensation for damaged homes in Bajaur from Rs160,000 to Rs500,000 during a jirga with tribal elders and officials.
He criticized the federal government for failing to release promised funds, citing a Rs532 billion shortfall from a Rs100 billion annual allocation over seven years.
Afridi also directed upgrades to schools and hospitals under the Roshan Qabail Package, raised police recruitment age limits, and called for faster implementation of martyrs’ packages.
Despite progress since 2018, the province saw a sharp rise in terrorism in 2025, with over 1,500 incidents and 137 police deaths, many linked to cross-border activity.
