The Bangsamoro region passed a new districting law to hold its first elections, pending congressional approval by March 31, 2026.
The Bangsamoro Transition Authority passed districting law PB 415, establishing 32 geographic districts, 40 party-list, and eight sectoral seats for the 80-member Bangsamoro Parliament, enabling the first regional elections after multiple delays.
The law, passed with 48 votes in favor, 19 opposed, and four abstentions, addresses Supreme Court concerns over prior laws by ensuring contiguous, compact districts.
It now moves to Congress, which must set an election date by March 31, 2026, to end the region’s extended transition.
