A 24-year-old UK man was extradited to Belgium to serve a 10-year sentence for his role in a migrant smuggling and abuse ring.
Saifur Rahman Ahmedzai, a 24-year-old from Hertfordshire, was extradited to Belgium in June 2024 to face sentencing for his role in a major people smuggling operation that transported thousands of migrants from northern France to the UK.
Alongside Zeeshan Banghis, a London resident, Ahmedzai was convicted in absentia by a Belgian court in November 2024 and sentenced to 10 years in prison, along with a 3,000 Euro fine.
The gang is accused of sexually assaulting male migrant minors, using filmed abuse to blackmail victims.
Both men were arrested in December 2024, with Banghis extradited in January 2025.
The case involved 23 individuals, resulting in 170 years of combined prison time, and highlights international cooperation to dismantle human trafficking networks exploiting vulnerable migrants.
